Additional Information

Minimum Unit Pricing For Scotland Minimum unit pricing came into force on 1st May 2018 and is a mandatory condition for all licensed premises in Scotland where alcohol cannot be sold below 50p per unit of alcohol. Failure to adhere to this condition would result in your licence being revoked or imprisonment. Therefore, communicate pricing to your shoppers and ensure your shelf edge pricing is clear and prominent.

Cider and Perry will be the most affected categories and you are likely to see a sales decline in these categories, as shopper behaviour changes and moves away from alcohol that has increased considerably due to minimum unit pricing. You will need to review the space in your store where you previously stocked cider PET bottles and cans – please use our recommended planograms to help decide how much space to dedicate to the categories and brands. Growth will come from Premium, Fruit Ciders and RTD’s.
